I grew up in rural Darwin, out on the Adelaide River (where they do the Croc cruises). We weren’t well off, so we were brought up fishing and hunting, eating what we caught and sharing the extras with the Humpty Doo Mob. School was not my thing back then, so I dropped out of school around the time I was 14, (slightly regret that part), and started working as an apprentice butcher for the next 10 years or so. By then my family had grown and the butchering life didn’t suit anymore. Defence promoted a good family/work life balance and education, so I thought why not, and for the most it has worked out. Don’t get me wrong, it does have its sh*t times, but I enjoy the work itself and will probably stick around for a bit longer.
