I am from Boigu Island in the Torres Strait. I joined the Navy from Boigu Island on 7 April 2008 at the age of 22. I did my eight months military training at Crib Point Victoria. I was then posted to Sydney on 5 November 2008. I undertook my first deployment (Operation Slipper) in 2010 on board HMAS Parramatta. My second deployment (Operation Resolute) was in 2011 as Transit Security Element at HMAS Coonawarra. I also assisted in the 2011 flood in Ipswich. In 2016 I was deployed to Operation Manitou on board HMAS Darwin and that’s when I received the Australian Operational Service Medal – Greater Middle East Operations. I spent four years on HMAS Darwin and was part of Darwin’s decommissioning crew.

In 2020 I transferred to a Maritime Logistics Officer at the rank of Midshipman, after completing my NEOC training at HMAS Creswell. I moved to Canberra in 2021 to go to the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) to complete a Bachelor of Business. I received my long service medal (15 yrs) in April 2023.

In my personal life, I met a lovely lady from Sydney, Emma, and we had two boys, Sawsi in 2019 and Abia in 2021. Emma and I were married in 2023 and we are now expecting our third child, Maui in 2024.

I am still currently serving and enjoy my time in the Navy. I love the lifestyle and get to see a lot of places and meet really good people.
