My Pop, Terry Stacey was a Sapper in the Army and served with 4RAR in Vietnam from 1968-1969. His experiences influenced my decision to enlist in both good and bad ways. My father saw the negative effects it had on my grandfather when he returned from Vietnam. Not just the post-traumatic stress he got from what he saw in Vietnam but how, after serving his country and fighting for the freedom of others, he was still discriminated against back home because he was an Aboriginal man. On top of that, the Vietnam vets who served were shunned when they got home.
