Flight Lieutenant Aimee McCartney was born and raised on Wurundjeri Country in Naarm, Melbourne and currently lives on Gunaikurnai Country (Victoria). She has served in the RAAF for 4 years following service in the 39 Australian Army Cadet Unit while a student In 2022, Flt Lt McCartney participated with the RAAF Band and other First Nations service personnel to record the Australian national anthem with its revised 2021 wording and traditional indigenous instruments. Aimee McCartney is an emerging contemporary Indigenous artist whose art company’s name Luruk-in means Your Sister.
